When was the mtv vmas 2011

I'd like to brake a lance to the fact that those VMA's might not be the best choice for a review, as you can hardly review the actual "performance" of who won what in which category. This is all subject to personal taste, and money, and who paid for what award That would be like reviewing the Acadamy Arwards ceremony over who won what, and this would lead to an absolute subjective and thus pointless review. That being said, I don't give a damn about who won what this night.

I want to review this from the standpoint of an entertaining overall broadcast. And boy, did Lady Gaga open this show with a stunning performance. Which goes hand in hand with an incredible well thought producing. Having herself dress as a man with a self-deprecating monologue, collapsing in a great musical performance including Bernie May, Gaga slipping of the piano, dancing, great editing and a great sound for a live performance, is everything you can wish for your casual award evening.

Credits go to director Hamish Hamilton, which I - to leave a neutral review - admit to adore as a live director, and who captures all this in his usual effortless and entertaining way. Especially the following act by Adele struck my search pattern on Youtube several times. The heartwarming song "Someone Like You" captured in a one-shot, wide-angle, dead-slow-moving Steadicam-shot is a second to non venture on an award show like this.

Every other director would probably have cut this performance to bits and pieces with close-ups and stuff. And that is a rare good nowadays, Award-Show or not. Details Edit. Release date August 28, United States. United States.

For all the song's fierceness, hip-hop's wonder twins looked gratifyingly happy and relaxed — like they were actually having fun; maybe Yeezy knew he was due his own Moonman moments later? Or maybe it was just the ombre. With green lasers shooting all around them as if they were being hunted down by the Master Control Program, the rapper and his dapper sidekick tag-teamed on ''Give Me Everything'' as a dozen short-skirted ladies shimmied around them, and the crowd really came alive, singing along with the best part: ''I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.

The broadcast temporarily abandoned its frantic mission of nonstop overstimulation, bowing to the year-old English soulstress's soaring, nearly a cappella well done, subtle piano man rendition of her heart-wrecking ballad ''Someone Like You.

Who needs special effects, when God gave you your own? Even Britney Spears looked like she had to fix her mascara when it was all over. Is there anything he can? At this point, you could probably set off a car alarm and he'd just start doing the dougie with an energy that can still make Justin Timberlake feel old.

Jaws dropped when he soared around in his white suit, flipping mid-air in circles, rising above the crowd with his arms outstretched. And who's gonna tell him he's wrong? But even with child, she is never without funk, and Bey brought the full powers of vintage spangles-and-wind-machines Diana Ross to her exuberant ''Love On Top. But not long after this Irvine, Calif. Go for it, man. Huzzah for BRUNO MARS Sure, he's three distant degrees removed from the song's origins The Zutons originated it before Amy covered it , but Bruno brought his rockabilly best to ''Valerie,'' faithfully retaining the song's mod-soul jangle while bringing just enough of his own finger-snapping doo-wop flavor.

We saw you slapping your knees, Adele! We'll take that as approval. Considering that Winehouse's interpretation of the song is nearly impossible to top, Mars actually proved a smart choice — a solid musician with real talent, he made it his own without ever losing sight of the woman he was truly singing it for. His digitally-tweaked rendition of ''How to Love,'' complete with sensitive-rapper folk sample, was a big snooze.

But the moment he transitioned into the big closer, ''John,'' he woke up. Ripping off his shirt to reveal an insanely ripped pack and launching into Van Halen high-kicks that should've been rated by Olympic judges, he gave his all while his leopard-print jeans nearly slipped down to his knees.

Bonus points for playing guitar, even if Weezy was looking at it as if he couldn't find the ''play'' button. Save FB Tweet More.
