Why am I here? What am I supposed to be doing? Am I just an accident that knew nothing before I was born and will know nothing after I die? Do I have value and worth? What is my purpose? You were created for Jesus! Jesus wants us to be with Him for all eternity. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you gave him authority over all flesh, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him.

Then he prayed for the apostles, but after he prayed for the apostles, he prayed for us. He prayed for you and me May they also be in us, so that the world may believe you sent me. However, I have known you, and they have known that you sent me. Jesus prayed that relationship with Him, that we would be one.

He eats and drinks only the best bread, wine, beer, precious spices too. He excretes nothing but corruption, snot, sputum, matter, sweat, sores, pox, scruff, slough, discharge, pus, dung and urine. He clothes himself in satin and gold, spreads lice, nits, fleas and other vermin. We wonder who we are and why we are here. He considered the contradictory answers of others in light of what he saw himself to be.

To others he appeared strong, serene, self -sufficient; to himself, sick, empty, weary. But in all this, his trembling faith affirmed,. Once you had received mercy, but now you have received mercy. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which I prefer.

I am hard pressed between the two; my desire is to depart and be with Christ for that is far better; but to remain in the flesh is necessary for you.

Paul wondered what his purpose was, why was he still on earth when he wanted to be with the Lord. You are here for the same reason.

You are here to bring others to a knowledge of the truth which is Jesus Christ and to glorify God in your life. I had lunch with one of you last week and you were telling me how you knew an old man who said he was an atheist and did not believe in the existence of God.

It is often said that Christians are the only Bible the world will ever read. You can be a Bible for your friends and neighbors as they see your faith and life. We read in the newspaper recently how with the aging of Billy Graham, the great crusades and rallies of the past century may not continue into the future.

The writer said that the way to reach people today is in a quieter way, one-on-one, letting other people know you care about them and that God cares too. You are the disciples and apostles to this community at this time.

You are the chosen people of God for your neighborhood or apartment or school or golf course. So long as she had life and breath, she could pray. Coming alive to the fruits of the spirit, the gift of the Kingdom: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Friends, this starts with our repentance, which leads to our transformation. As we press into this paradox, we do something radical. We create space for belonging, for ourselves, and others. We declare a truth over ourselves and those who are near to us, that we belong to God, that we belong to each other, and we belong to the world. But we have to be willing to hold the tension that creating space for belonging creates.

The main marker here is how we will deal with the tension. Or how we grow our unity as a racially, ethnically, socially, and economically diverse community. Or how we answer our call to social justice. Or our approach to, understanding of, and application of the holy scriptures in our lives, to our stuff, to who we are. It can tempting to build a community that avoids living within this tension, by ignoring those we disagree with, gathering only with those who are just like us, who think just like us, and who see the world just like us, who look like us.

Jesus is when lifted up gathers all people and is inviting us, his church to be a community that reflects his sense of belonging by being a place where all people are love, welcomed, and accepted while simultaneously being called to transformation.

The best reflection of the Kingdom of God at work is found in a community that is diverse, in person, in tradition, and in experience. We are willing to learn from others. We are centered-set in our approach to God. The Best Reflection of the Kingdom of God What would it look like if we were to be loved just as we are, without the need to hide, without the need to obscure who we really are, without the need to put on our masks?

I think about this often. What would happen if we were able to increase our trust with ourselves, each other, and God? What would it look like if we were restored in our relationship with God and each other?

King Solomon writing in the wisdom writings notes this as a core identity issue for us in Proverbs a, 22 What a person desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.
